"It's a great way to use resources, meet new people, try new things and open up a new world of friends and family. It helped us to better manage our Airbnb rental."
"As an ex-housesitter, it is glorious to have a permanent spot, not moving every week and I've achieved more in my business in one month than I had in the previous six months put together. I finished my book; released and launched all in the 8 months I've been Xchanging. I highly recommend it."
"We don't do housework anymore. My wife and I spend our evenings relaxing and weekends doing what we want to do instead of the dreaded housework. Maintaining our family home became a chore once the kids left, but no more."
"Being a Guest is a wonderful way to share your life and passions with other people. Whether you can speak another language, are a secret home Master Chef or just love connecting with like-minded people, it is a great opportunity to expand, share and learn from those around us. Plus, with the high cost of living and housing, The Room Xchange is offering a way to live better and smarter."
"If you've got a spare room and you need extra help, then it's a great solution because you come home from work every night to a spotless house. It also gives young people a way of having some independence. If you've got a spare room, give it a go."
"You get to make lifelong friends and create a second family. They're there to take care of you and you're there to take care of them. I've got a second set of parents. They were really kind to me and literally transformed me in ways I never expected. It's a very special bond and an extraordinary experience that everyone should have."
I was going through a separation from my partner and I needed a soft place to land. At the same time, I was finishing up my PhD in astrophysics, my scholarship was running out and I didn’t have a job lined up. I needed somewhere affordable to live so I searched on Google and found The Room Xchange. I knew it was exactly what I needed. I moved in with the Dautovic family a week later, and they made me feel welcome right away. In the six weeks since I became a Guest with The Room Xchange, I’ve finished my PhD, gained a part time job with my Host’s business, they introduced me to a publisher in Europe who has since asked me to be a contributing writer for their digital magazine, recovered from an emotionally difficult situation and saved myself a lot of financial grief. And the best thing is, I feel like I’m part of their family.
Don’t waste your hard earned money paying for rent and bills when you can share your skills and Xchange your time.
There are massive benefits to Xchanging.
It's time to leave home, fly the coop and live independently. Xchanging is a great first way to leave home. You'll still have the support of your Hosts and at the same time the freedom to gain some independence without the cost.
Better for the environment
By utilising resources that already exist, you are essentially decreasing your environmental footprint. By using your Hosts household furniture and items, you're decreasing landfill and emissions. Good on you!
More time to do what you love
By Xchanging your skills and time for food and accommodation, you are essentially decreasing the number of hours you have to work in order to live. If you played your cards right, you could Xchange and travel all over the world.
Concentrate on university
University is hard enough without having to worry about the high costs associated with it. Not only do you have to pay such high fees, university housing isn't that cheap. By Xchanging somewhere close to where you study, it will decrease your travel time and costs.
Time to start that project
We all have a book idea, a business concept or a dream holiday we'd love to go on, but the high cost of living puts an end to that. However, Xchanging will enable you to achieve those dreams and much more. It's also a great way for people who are 'in-between' and need a soft place to fall.
Enrich your life
Xchanging is about sharing lives and resources. It's about supporting each other via a fair an equitable Xchange. It's about learning from each other and growing as humans being. Ultimately, it's about creating micro-communities in the most intimate place of all - home.
We all have hidden skills and things that we naturally love to do. They’re the skills that you want to consider when Xchanging. Not everyone loves kids, cooking or gardening but there are some that are mad about it. You could be a crazy organiser - you know who you are. Everyone comments about it. Those skills are valuable to busy people. Take a look at some of the ideas below.
